9 Months

Little big guy is nine months now!  Cody is still just enjoying crawling, pulling up, and cruising all over the place.  He will on occasion, especially in his chair, clap his hands and play “How Big is Cody?”.   This past month has seen a big leap in Cody’s verbal efforts!  He frequently babbles happily, and I find the way he experiments with volume cute: sometimes he whispers, sometimes he uses a normal volume, and sometimes he gets LOUD! He has even started to get into the “play under tables and chairs” phase, which I also find cute.  Dreams of grand forts abound in my mind, waiting impatiently for the day he’ll really enjoy such efforts.  Cody hates to be restrained: diaper changes have become impressive displays of athleticism, creativity, and determination by all parties involved.   Yet, you can also catch Cody being quite cuddly before and after sleep.  We had a good report from our new pediatrician today.  Not sure what was up with all the drops in percentiles at his last (6 month) appointment, but he is back on a healthy track across the board now.

In other news, here is a picture I captured of some local wildlife:

Rabbits are quite common, but don't often come so close to our patio!

I just wanted to capture Cody’s chubby, squishy, little legs before I ran to tell him putting all his body weight on our new screen will surely destroy it:

  1. Mom/Mary

    We’re staying VERY DRY, unfortunately:/
Can’t wait to get my hands on Cody’s chubby, squishy, little legs at the reunion, and hear all his verbal achievements!!!
Glad to hear his growth is on track; when visiting I would look at him and think-he looks like a normal chubby baby to me:))) Love “our little sunshine”!

    • Really? That surprises me; every time I look at your forecast it shows lots of storm clouds. Cody’s growth was improved when you visited, it was more when he was 6-7 months that he was losing a little and not gaining. Thanks for the comments 🙂

  2. I love his yellow shirt, Tara 🙂 At this rate, will he be walking by the family reunion?! Also, I was just curious – have you started swimming lessons with him again? 🙂

    • I would be surprised if he is walking then, but then, I’ve been surprised before. He doesn’t really have a concept of forward walking; he won’t even do it when we hold his arms. We haven’t started swimming lessons. They have them at the Y here but just haven’t looked into it. Also, if it ever gets hot enough, we’re planning on getting pool passes so we might just practice what he’s learned for the summer and then start in the fall with some new material. 🙂

  3. Thanks for posting! That panda seems to be getting smaller all the time1 🙂
